Diesel engines are used in a range of industries and help keep all kinds of equipment running. If you want a chance to work hands-on with these big engines, the Diesel Technology program at Universal Technical Institute can help prepare you for the industry. Students can graduate in less than a year7 prepared for entry-level careers as diesel technicians. Get your training right here at the Lisle, Illinois, campus, located just outside of Chicago.
The Diesel Technology program at UTI teaches students how to service, repair and diagnose components related to diesel engines. Courses focus on different aspects of the machinery to help students build their knowledge from the ground up, which means all experience levels are welcome.
Diesel students at the Lisle campus follow UTI’s blended learning model, which provides a combination of online instructor-led training with hands-on application in labs.18 This not only gives students more flexibility in their schedules, but also mimics the training technicians receive in the industry.
The Diesel courses offered at the Lisle campus are designed to provide students with well-rounded experience that can be applied to the industry. The courses include:

Training programs can offer a range of graduation documents to students once they’ve graduated. These are important to consider, as they can help you stand out to potential employers.
Graduates of the Diesel Technology program at the Lisle campus earn diplomas. They are also prepared to test for ASE certification, and can substitute training for one of the two years of work experience needed to become ASE certified.
Along with the core Diesel program, UTI’s Lisle campus offers three specialized training programs: the 8-week Fendt Technician Academy, the 12-week Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) Finish First program and the 12-week Peterbilt Technician Institute.
These Manufacturer-Specific Advanced Training (MSAT) programs can help students expand on their knowledge and gain manufacturer-specific skills.15
