With the industry's continuing technological advances, outboard and sterndrive marine systems are becoming increasingly complex and technicians are needed by marine dealerships. In your MMI training you'll learn everything from 2-stroke and 4-stroke theory and fuel systems to electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting.
Each three-week manufacturer-specific course is designed to provide students with technical and hands-on training specific to each brand. Students learn the design and operation unique to each manufacturer:
Honda 225, Mercury Verado and Optimax
Volvo Penta, MerCruiser
Fuel injection, carbureted
Starting, charging, ignition, power trim and tilt
Students will also learn setup, maintenance, service, and repair procedures, as well as diagnosing and troubleshooting using diagnostic equipment, such as the Suzuki Diagnostic System (SDS) and the Mercury Computer Diagnostic System (CDS).
This technical knowledge and hands-on experience prepares MMI Marine graduates to pursue work as entry-level technicians at marine dealerships or wherever life on the water may take them.
Talk to an Admissions Representative today about how MMI can help prepare you for a career in the marine industry.
